Financing with a negative BKR registration
If you have a negative BKR registration, you may not be able to take out a loan or financing. Many leasing companies and other credit providers do not help people with a negative BKR registration, because they are afraid that these people will not be able to pay it back. What is a BKR registration?
The BKR is the Bureau Krediet Registratie foundation. This bureau registers, as the name suggests, all credits that people in the Netherlands take out. You will be registered with the BKR if you take out a loan for more than €250, have a credit card debt, are overdrawn or buy a product on instalments. Mortgages or student loans do not lead to a new registration. For business credits, you will receive a BKR registration for amounts above €1,000.
A BKR registration is not a problem in itself, unless it is a negative registration. You will receive a negative registration if you have not repaid a loan on time or not at all. A negative BKR registration remains visible for up to 5 years after full repayment. This also means that a negative registration during this period can affect your ability to take out a loan or enter into a lease contract.

BKR registration and company car leasing
Once you have a BKR registration, it is difficult or even impossible to lease a company car with many leasing companies.
